Who we work with

Is Monfi right for you?

Monfi is for adults navigating serious illness — people carrying questions that deserve careful, unhurried attention, in a place where they feel at home.

Cancer at any stage

Newly diagnosed, in active treatment, in remission, or living with advanced disease — including through to end of life.

End-of-life care

For people whose focus has shifted from cure to quality of life. Sessions come to you, wherever home is.

Anticipatory grief

Grief before death is real.

Mourning what is already changing deserves the same attention as grief after.

Meaning and identity

Who am I now? What still matters? Illness forces these questions into focus — Monfi is a place to take them seriously.

Relationships under pressure

Serious illness changes the dynamics of our closest relationships. Monfi can help find language for what's happening between you and the people you love.

The process

How it works

Monfi works within a five-session package — a focused, defined course of support shaped entirely around your situation.

  1. Reach out

Get in touch using the contact details below, or ask your GP or specialist to refer you directly. No formal referral is required.

  2. A brief conversation first

Remy will call within a few days to hear about your situation and confirm that Monfi is a good fit.

  3. Sessions come to you

All sessions take place in your home, anywhere across inner and south-east Melbourne — at a pace that works around your health and energy. No travel, no waiting rooms.

  4. Five tailored sessions

Each session is shaped by what you're facing right now — your fears, your relationships, and what matters most to you.

  5. Notes you can keep

After each session, a verbatim transcript and a clinician-reviewed summary are provided securely — something to return to, share with family, or pass to future treating clinicians. If you'd rather a session not be recorded, just say so — it won't affect your care.

What a session feels like

There is no fixed agenda and nothing you need to prepare. Remy comes to you, sits with you wherever you are most comfortable, and follows your lead. A session usually lasts around an hour, but can be shorter on days when your energy is low. It is a conversation, not an assessment — always oriented toward how to live as well as possible from where you are now. The past matters when it helps. But what drives the work is your goals: what makes the life ahead meaningful, tolerable, or even, in some ways, good.

What happens after the five sessions

Five sessions is the complete package. As the final session approaches, Remy will talk with you about what has been helpful and, where relevant, support you with a referral to another service for any ongoing needs.

If plans change

Health and energy are unpredictable, so sessions are easy to move. You can reschedule or cancel at any time — including at short notice — at no charge. There is no cancellation or late fee.

The clinical approach

What happens in the room

Monfi's clinical model draws on Solution-Focused Brief Therapy as the structural spine, with meaning-centered and existential therapy woven through as the work requires. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy are integrated where they fit — selected for each person's needs, not applied by protocol.

"Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms — to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one's own way." — Viktor E. Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning
Solution-Focused Brief Therapy

What do you most hope for?

Sessions begin from your goals, not a predetermined programme. We work from your existing strengths and find small, concrete steps forward.

Meaning-centered

What still matters?

We explore what remains meaningful — legacy, love, identity, and the attitude you bring to what cannot be changed. For existential distress and the search for purpose.

Acceptance & Commitment Therapy · Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

What helps you move?

Where practical tools help, skill-based psychotherapies can assist with identifying and reframing maladaptive thoughts, sitting with uncertainty, stepping back from thoughts or feelings, clarifying values, expressing yourself honestly with family, friends, carers, and your health team, and practising mindfulness.

About

Remy Lindner

Registered Clinical Psychologist Board-Approved Supervisor (Psychology Board of Australia) Psycho-Oncology Training Master of Psychology Master of Public Health — Epidemiology

Remy Lindner is a registered clinical psychologist with more than fifteen years of experience in hospital, community, and private practice. Since 2022 he has been Senior Psychologist at one of Australia's largest public health services — a role he created — delivering psychology to patients living with cancer and palliative care needs in their own homes across Melbourne's south-east. He has been working with people living with cancer and approaching end of life since 2017, and has pursued advanced psycho-oncology and palliative care training since 2019. He is a Board-Approved Supervisor (Psychology Board of Australia), and his published research includes a peer-reviewed study in the Journal of Affective Disorders (2020).

Why this work? Because the questions that come with serious illness — about meaning, fear, love, regret, and what it is to have lived — are too important to leave people facing alone. I started Monfi because the best psychological care should not stop at the hospital door. Coming into someone's home, on their terms, in the place where their life is actually being lived, is a privilege. My aim is simple: that no one has to carry the hardest part of this on their own.

Monfi brings the focused clinical psychological care of hospital and community settings directly into the homes of people facing the most demanding questions life can present — in the place where those questions are actually being lived.

Monfi sessions are $500 each. There are three ways to access funding, depending on your circumstances.

For GPs and treating clinicians

Referring a patient to Monfi

Monfi works alongside oncologists, palliative care teams, GPs, and home care providers. Referrals are welcome from any source — including the patient themselves.

What to include in a referral

  • Patient contact details and home address (Melbourne metropolitan area).
  • Diagnosis and prognosis, as known.
  • Current treating team and whether they are aware of the referral.
  • Funding pathway — home care package or private payment.
  • Any urgency, clinical concerns, or capacity considerations.

What happens next

  • Remy endeavours to contact the patient as promptly as possible to arrange a brief introductory call (5–15 minutes, not billed) — as a small private practice, response times cannot always be guaranteed.
  • If Monfi is a good fit, all five sessions are usually scheduled during or shortly after that call.
  • A brief summary is sent to nominated treating clinicians after Session 1 and Session 5, subject to patient consent.
  • Please ensure the patient has been informed of and has consented to this referral before submitting.
Suitable referrals Adults with cancer, life-limiting illness, or palliative care needs who can engage in conversation — even with limited energy. Not appropriate for patients at imminent risk of self-harm (refer to CAT team), significant cognitive impairment, or requiring acute psychiatric assessment. Uncertain cases are always welcome to discuss with Remy before referring.
Urgent or time-sensitive referrals Due to limited capacity, Monfi is unable to service urgent or time-sensitive referrals. For patients with immediate needs, please consider referral to psychology practices with capacity for urgent care, CATT units, emergency mental health teams, palliative care units, or emergency departments.

What we collect

When you contact Monfi by email, we collect your name, contact details, and any information you choose to share about your situation. When you become a patient, Monfi also collects health information necessary to provide psychological care, including session notes and summaries. Health information is sensitive information under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth); your consent to its collection is implicit in your decision to make contact and proceed with care.

How information is used and stored

Information is used solely to respond to your enquiry and to provide and coordinate your care. Email enquiries are received directly into Remy's inbox — no enquiry data is transmitted to or stored by any third-party server. Clinical records are held securely in accordance with the record-keeping obligations of the Psychology Board of Australia.

Session transcripts and AI summaries

Sessions are recorded and transcribed through Halaxy, an Australian clinical management platform. You can access your transcript securely through the Monfi patient portal after each session. Remy also provides an AI-generated summary of each session, which he reviews and approves before it reaches you. All clinical data is stored in Australia. You may decline recording at any time — just let Remy know before the session begins, and it will not affect your care.

Your information is not disclosed to third parties without your consent, except where required or authorised by law. With your consent, brief summaries may be shared with nominated treating clinicians (such as your GP) to support coordinated care.

How long it is kept

Clinical records are retained for the period required by law — generally a minimum of seven years from the last contact, or until a young person turns 25, whichever is longer. Enquiry messages that do not lead to care are deleted once they are no longer needed.
